How to find error log files in cPanel

Web server errors

In cPanel, open Errors in the Metrics section. It shows the most recent errors recorded for your account, such as permission problems and missing files.

PHP errors

PHP writes errors to a file called error_log in the folder where the error happened.

  1. Open File Manager and enable hidden files if needed.
  2. Look in public_html and the folder of the page that's failing (for WordPress, also check wp-admin).
  3. Right-click error_log and choose View. The newest entries are at the bottom.

You can also use the File Manager search box to find all error_log files.

Tips

  • Note the time the problem happened and look for entries around that time.
  • Error logs can grow very large; delete them once the issue is solved.
  • Include relevant log lines when you raise a support ticket.
