How to create a MySQL database in cPanel
Most website software (WordPress, Joomla, shops) needs a database.
Quickest way: MySQL Database Wizard
- In cPanel, open Database Wizard in the Databases section.
- Enter a database name and click Next Step.
- Create a database user with a strong password and click Create User.
- Tick ALL PRIVILEGES and click Next Step.
Manual way
In MySQL Databases: create the database, create a user, then use Add User to Database and grant all privileges.
Important: prefixes
cPanel adds your account username to the start of every database and user name. If you name a database shop and your username is cpuser, the real name is cpuser_shop. Use the full prefixed names in your website's configuration.
Database host for your website is localhost. Manage the contents of your databases with phpMyAdmin.
