How to create FTP accounts in cPanel
Extra FTP accounts let a web designer or developer upload files without giving them your cPanel login. Each account can be limited to one folder.
- In cPanel, open FTP Accounts in the Files section.
- Enter a Log In name and choose the domain.
- Set a strong password.
- Set the Directory. The account can only see this folder and anything inside it. For example,
public_html/shop restricts it to the shop folder. - Set a Quota or leave it unlimited.
- Click Create FTP Account.
The username is the full login shown in the list, for example designer@yourdomain.co.uk. Click Configure FTP Client beside the account to see its connection details.
Delete accounts that are no longer needed.
