How to migrate your website to Managed Web

How to migrate your website to Managed Web

We can move your website, databases and email from another host for you.

Request a migration

Open a support ticket (from the client portal or our help centre) with:

  • The domain(s) to move
  • Your old host's control panel type (cPanel, Plesk etc.)
  • Login details for the old control panel, or a full cPanel backup if you prefer to provide one

We'll copy everything across and let you know when it's ready to check.

Check before switching

Before changing your domain over, preview the site on our server (see How to preview your website before changing DNS) and check that pages load and forms work.

Switch over

Once you're happy, change your domain's nameservers to ns0.thundercloud.uk and ns1.thundercloud.uk (or update the A and MX records if you're keeping DNS elsewhere).

Tips for a smooth move

  • Don't cancel your old hosting until the new site has been live for a few days and your email is working.
  • Avoid making content changes on the old site during the move.
  • If you use an email client, re-check its settings afterwards (see our mail set-up guides).
  • Change the passwords you shared with us once the migration is complete.
